HIGH HOPES FOR HOMECOMING

With the Bulldogs coming fresh off a bye-week last Saturday, they are ready to take on the undefeated #24 Waldorf Warriors in their third game of the year. During the bye-week, the Bulldogs had a few days off to recover, but that doesn’t go without practice. What makes this upcoming game significant is that it is their first Homecoming game since the national title season in 2021-2022. Both of Ferris State’s opponents were nationally ranked and undefeated prior to their matchups, giving them an advantage. On Tuesday & Thursday, the players had some walkthroughs and a few practices, preparing them for one of their biggest matchups of the 2022-2023 season.

Ferris seems to be a well balanced team, especially in terms of offensive style of play. However, Waldorf runs a 3-4 defensive formation with a big line and some very fast, skilled linebackers. The Bulldogs offensive line will need to win in the trenches in order to get some momentum going. According to coach Brian Rock, Waldorf has a very agile, shifty and speedy type of tempo on defense that will throw players off, the Bulldogs will need to be on their toes.

The next couple weeks after this homecoming will be busy for the Bulldogs right after their Homecoming game as they travel to Houghton to face off the Huskies of Michigan Tech on October 1st. Later on they’ll be facing Saginaw Valley State to play the Cardinals on October 8th.
